If you, too, were as eager for the salty brine
As her hovering on a shell above foam like a
Spector of what might become if a wish ate
Its broth and looked at the clouds bored
Of terrestrial passage that in the very end
Means nothing while the before-that-very-end
Ends pass underneath like railroad ties;
Would you, too, wish that you could become
A goddess and hold in your hand the tiny
Hearts of men swallowing gold like shellfish?
