Poem for Sundance, after Fleetwod Mac, Crosby, Stills and Nash …
By Stephen,
How do we capture the suite of life:
Blue eyes, brown eyes, these eyes
See what the cake tastes, savor
Each layer with me, what comes.
So, yes, it’s hard. Always has been
Even in the time before memory,
When life was just a feeling before
Memories came along to foul aura
We wanted bottled forever like time.
Too many references to songs kids
Don’t sing along to like we did then
When life was just feeling before
The cider, like rosé or with honey,
Cyser. I know we can capture this
Suite: blue, like Thomas the tank
Engine, eyes. Brown eyes, these
Eyes. Like life, thoughts bleed over
Lines, bleed over stanzas, bleed like
Life when allowed to be lived, when
Allowed to be loved. Let’s layer it
Together and start a landslide in my
Heart to uncover the child’s, beating
Like when life was just a feeling
Before memory took a hold of me.
Judy, I am changing my life, gonna
Fly away into the day when older,
I reflect the snow covered hills and
Done lamenting, I will make it right.

Yes, there’s a strict and regimented new show in town
The old circus and memories have gone with the clowns

The clowns are always lurking about in the gutter…

I enjoyed your “riffing” poem. In the end, all we can do is try to make it right.
