Shredded Cobblers, A Level UP Challenge poem by Stephen

He shredded her dreams and she shred back.
Those dreams they shared once upon a car ride
Where to they went now they no longer know.
This destination had not been on the triptik,
Nor in the margins, off the beaten track; that
Route had been carved with love, it had seemed.
Alone, he just breathes. Pulled from his shoes.
An invisible man. A shadow. Puddled reflection.
She floats above the water. The sea heโd called
Home. The depths where he tried bury his soul
Blues distilled with a flash to make brine.
What drink remained, left for the parched.
Whose dignified now? Who breathes an air
Of victory? In this moment, she like vapor,
He like ripples, they complete their drift
Apart. Signatures notarized. Dreams filed.
They both hope for the other the love they
Could not figure out how to cobble, together.
In response to this week’s Level Up, incorporating GO Dog GO Cafe, Eugi, and Sadje’s prompts.

Yes Stephen…
Relationships come and go
Like the winter snow
That melts under the spring sun
And as new flowers grow
We realise weren’t the one….

We pick them, these flowers, to vase
Water… then let them go to seed.
Instead we will replant in a new field
After letting our fingernails collect dirt
Needing dug for the root to take hold.

I’m not sure whether I’ve enough desire to anymore digging…..

Neither me, at times, but that is what friends offer us
A companion to remind us of the gardens yet to be sown
The gift yet to be grown, but inside us, shell cracking
Waiting to burst out into the light.
Grateful for you Ivor.

I like those thoughts ideas Stephen, but maybe my shell has become too resilient……

Oh, my! This is a stunning piece, Stephen. A relationship gone awry and you expressed their journey so well. All prompts mastered, as well.

Thank you so much Eugi. I have been on the travel again this week, so most of my responses have been quick emojis, but this poem has some depth of meaning to it for me. Especially this week. (Would insert a sad-ish emoji here)

I love where you went with the prompts the second time around. A sense of dis-enchantment is profound here.

There is dis-enchantment, true, but there is also a sense of healing that I hope comes through, or maybe even the beginning of healing. I hope… truly hope…

Yes there is a certain infliction of the mood to show hope.
