Less Traveled Dirt, a Tuesday Writing Prompt Poem and others from the GDG Cafe!

In response to this week’s Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge at Go Dog Go Cafe “I never knew” I offer a poem I wrote some time ago that I found using a word search on my laptop, enjoy and read through to the bottom to discover the other poems shared today!
A few weeks back,
I picked up a pack
Of pencils and a book
Teaching me how to draw
Somehow it took
And soon I saw
In my art something new
I wanted to say, “Phew,
It has been too long, Mind
Since your words kindly
Motivated me to create.
And look at me now
With all these rhymes
Never thought I knew how
Like committing crimes
Only braver souls tried
My words just sighed
And left me alone again
Wondering when
Mind would toss me a bone
To chew on to its marrow.
Neil Finn inspired me,
Better than TV, the song
To put down the iPhone
And play along with life
Create something, even
If nothing came, it would
Be better than not trying
And wondering what if
When the time to wonder
Came to pass and I learn
What happens after this
I don’t really care about
How words dance and rhyme
On the page, I care about
How they prance about
In the head of the reader
Looking for an artery
That connects our blood
To our hearts, like two souls
Tired of wandering, wondering
The worth of less traveled dirt.

I really enjoyed this, particularly the last stanza, the most important things that words can do:
Looking for an artery That connects our blood To our hearts, like two souls
