‘And so we took a short walk’, a first draft poem by S Francis

And so we took a short walk.
Together we lay on grass, wet
From snow once sledded, melted
Into the fertile earth thirsty
For the cool, refreshing bath
After our play. We tasted silence
Knowing when presence devoured
Our hearts with joyโs teeth
We became more one than before.
The sun set and we walked again
This time to find sticks to stab
Into the frozen pond. Now I
Walk alone, letting him rest,
And see the faded purples of
Dawn as the sun resumes its
Course in life, warming me.

A beautifully dramatic finale….
” Now I
Walk alone, letting him rest,
And see the faded purples of
Dawn as the sun resumes its
Course in life, warming me.”
